Independent
Working for the future of Truro and Cornwall on Cornwall Council & Truro City Council
Welcome. I'm Bert Biscoe and I am the Independent Cornwall Councillor for Truro (East). I was elected to Cornwall County Council in 1997, and now serve on the new unitary council..
Since 1997 I have devoted my time to representing the community of
Truro, and the broader community of Cornwall. I served as a cabinet member for both Environment and Corporate Resources on the former County Council. In October 2012 I was elected to a cabinet post and currently hold the Tranportation Portfolio.

Other roles
I am also a member of Truro City Council. This enables me to cut 'red tape' for people and to encourage different council services to work together.
I am a trustee of Cornwall Rural Community Council, and I represent CRCC on the Rural Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Parternship, which means that I also chair the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Rural Farming Network - a new body set up by the Department of Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to 'interact' with Ministers on policy development and information sharing.
What is an INDEPENDENT?
For me INDEPENDENT means what it says on the can! I do not belong to any political party. I work with others to achieve a consensus, and treat all issues on their merits. I pay my own election expenses and do not rely upon a Party machine - the kids help out when they're in the mood!
I work to achieve social justice, fairness and equality for one and all, and to promote efficient, cost-effective and practical policies which are in the best interests of both Truro and Cornwall.
