Fighting for Cornish Railways
Bert Biscoe is a leading advocate for the development of rail travel in Cornwall. “It’s too little to simply fight for the mainline and to see the railway as a connection to London. It is probably Cornwall’s most important future local transport infrastructure, being both efficient and environmentally friendly.
Bert visits the site during works to re-dual the mainline at Probus-Burngullow – A major scheme undertaken by Cornwall Council in partnership with the Strategic Rail Authority to increase capacity on the rail network in Cornwall.
As the Kyoto Treaty begins to take effect and to shape our daily lives so the complex network of local lines, in both pubic and private ownership, will become critically important to our economy and social life. Now is the time to craft future plans so that we can build towards them over the next generation.
